Underfloor Heating System Installation and Repair

Underfloor heating is a modern and energy-efficient heating solution that provides even heat distribution throughout the room. Unlike radiator heating, floor heating warms from the bottom up, creating a comfortable microclimate without cold zones. SIA Alpex offers water-based underfloor heating system design, installation and maintenance in both new builds and renovation projects in Riga and Jurmala.

Underfloor heating is becoming increasingly popular in Latvia – both as the primary heating system in private houses and as an additional comfort solution in bathrooms and living spaces.

Our Approach

Underfloor heating installation begins with thorough design. Our engineers calculate the required heat output for each room, taking into account wall insulation, window type, room orientation and floor covering material. Based on calculations, we develop a pipe layout plan with precise circuit lengths and spacing.

During installation, we use proven water-based underfloor heating systems with multi-layer PE-Xa or PE-RT pipes that provide durability and flexibility. After pipe laying, we carry out a pressure test to verify the system’s integrity before the floor covering is installed.

For the completed system, we install manifolds with individual circuit adjustment and room thermostats that allow precise temperature control in each room separately. This ensures not only comfort but also significant energy savings.

Service Area

We provide underfloor heating services in:

On-site consultation and property inspection within Riga city limits.

FAQ

Can underfloor heating be installed in an existing apartment?

Yes, but with certain limitations. The main consideration is the floor level increase (usually 5-8 cm), which can affect door heights and transitions to other rooms. In an apartment building, the load-bearing capacity of the floor slab must also be considered. Our specialists will assess the possibilities for your specific apartment.

Which is better – water or electric underfloor heating?

Water-based underfloor heating is more economical in operation, as heat energy costs are lower than electricity. It is ideal as the primary heating system in large areas. Electric underfloor heating is simpler to install and better suited as supplementary heating in small rooms, such as bathrooms. Alpex specialises in water-based underfloor heating systems.

How long does an underfloor heating system last?

A quality water-based underfloor heating system with multi-layer pipes lasts 50+ years. The pipes laid in the floor are typically the most durable part of the system. Manifolds, pumps and regulators may require replacement after 15-20 years.

Is underfloor heating compatible with all floor coverings?

Underfloor heating works best with ceramic tiles and stone coverings, as they have high thermal conductivity. Laminate and parquet must be marked as suitable for underfloor heating. Thick carpet or cork covering can reduce system efficiency.
